The local supermarkets all have great offers every week and provide excellent value-for-money. I spend approximately £40 every 10 days on groceries, which is a significant saving compared to the costs in other cities I’ve visited in the UK.”

“As a student I really love to socialise with my friends in the city centre. I particularly enjoy the many pubs and restaurants. Two of my favourite places in the city are The Wonky Table and the popular chain TGI Fridays. What I love about the city of Derby is the variety of places to go, and in most cases you will be able to take advantage of student discounts.”

“Having spoken to friends and fellow students, the average cost to rent a house in Derby is approximately £700 a month – which includes rent, gas, electricity and water bills. Compared to other UK cities, these prices are reasonable. The price of halls depends on the location and size of the room you choose.”

“Even taxis and public buses are cheap in Derby, and because of its location, you will find there are many that travel to a variety of villages, towns and cities at a low price. The best news for students is the UniBus, which is free. It is easily accessible from each University campus and there are many stops all around the city.”
